From over the big pond....

Hi,
Sooo I'm that American that moves to Paris and doesn't know French (but trying to learn quickly!). I have a passion for gaming though and two GW shops recommended this website/forum for Blood Bowl (BB).

I've been playing GW games for over 30 years or so and the original BB was one of the first game I bought. However, having not really played it in recent years except for BB 2 video game against the computer. I figured I could get back into BB since it's a massive lift to bring my AoS/40K armies over from the states and BB has a smaller tabletop/storage footprint.

I'm starting at home practicing against the wife (we will see if that lasts) and also online when BB3 video game comes out next month. From a team perspective, I have some very old miniatures (original dwarf steam roller, etc..) and several 3rd party miniatures. Also bought the GW Norse as they are my all time favorite team.

Hoping to get enough practice in to not embarrass myself and then start playing games against other people. Happy to meet people to enjoy some games and apologies more for my terrible French smile

John

Hey John

Great to have you here.  If you want advice on getting back into tabletop, or just to have a chat about tactics or logistics, happy to provide.
And we have more than a few tournament players who would enjoy a few practice games once you feel ready.

From a fellow American who settled here. mrgreen

Re: From over the big pond....

If you're free this weekend, there is a tournament in paris (Vincennes in fact, but it's the same).
You can apply here.

Re: From over the big pond....

Thank you all for the warm welcome (bienvenue)! Once I skill-up a bit I certainly will be looking to get some friendly games in before I do any tournaments, leagues etc...

Merci!

John

Hi john !

If you want to meet some gorgious member of our community, you can also come at "La Revanche" a bar next to Lyon railway station. There are bloodbowl game attending almost every night.

For example, there are 3 game tonight, including one with the most charismatic player of all time : me.

Re: From over the big pond....

I just want to point out Doc Grotznik was referring to Gare de Lyon in Paris, not the train station in Lyon, that could have led to an awkward situation.
If you want to know if we have a scheduled game for any given day, there is a thread in the "Reunion et vie de l'asso" section, and the current fixture is game 10 of our 15 game league.
It is a great way to meet some of us and get some feelers about the vibes we have in the gaming group. You can come and watch a game or two, we'll be happy to tell you more about us and the Lutece

Re: From over the big pond....

La Revanche was on my tour of Paris gaming places (along with the GW store right next to it that recommended this site). I will surely have to stop in!
